London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) is a public research centre which specialises in the history of London. LMA exists to collect records of London’s rich history and of its vibrant and diverse present. Items are selected, catalogued, stored and permanently preserved for the use and benefit of present and future generations. The items LMA looks after are unique documents, including handwritten and printed material, photographs, maps and plans.

LMA is free to use and open to everyone. It offers a wide variety of school sessions, talks, guided tours, film screenings, exhibitions, conferences, seminars and other events. Whether you are tracing your family history or researching the history of your neighbourhood, if you are interested in London or Londoners, LMA is the place to visit.
